Playing Cards with Bobby Orr

Some of you who know me are aware the I play in a weekly poker game. If you didn’t know this, well, now you do. How does this tie-in with this weeks Orr item? I have playing cards to show you this week, including one set that nobody but one other person has ever seen.

This first set has Bobby promoting Canadian LTD Whiskey. The same image was used to make up a mirror which I featured back in this post. Every card in the deck has this image.

This next set is on the newer side.

This is from a set that used caricatures of players. Besides Orr, other Bruins players over the years are featured, like Gerry Cheevers, Milt Schmidt and Zdeno Chara. Sets were apparently made for many of the NHL teams. As you can see, besides telling you the years that Orr played for the Bruins, it also gives you an interesting fact about his career.

Lastly is something very special.

If you look at the bottom lower right hand corner, you’ll see “photo by Trudene”. If you’ve been reading my blogs lately you’ll recognize the name. If not, refer to this post, which will also lead you into others about her and her amazing Orr collection.

Anyhow, this was a photo that Trudene took herself. She recently made her own deck of playing cards using this picture on the backs of the cards. She sent me a deck to add to my collection. I can’t thank her enough for sending these to me. As much as I would love to use them during one of my poker games, there’s no way that I will. These are going to stay in perfect condition, on display with my other Orr memorabilia.

There you have this week’s unique Orr items. As always, see you again next weekend with more of Orr.
